Writer’s Diary: Novel in the Pipeline!

Hello readers of my writing blog. I am so sorry for the lack of updates. It isn’t because I have stopped writing or that I have had a terrible accidental. It’s actually because of some good news. In the last three months I have written a complete 78,000 word long novel. I wrote it from scratch and it started out as a short story but quickly took in a life of its own. Because I want to publish this novel I won’t be posting it up here. However, now that I am purely on the editing phase I will get back into writing other pieces and putting them up here. I actually have half a dozen short pieces that some friends have been nagging me to polish up and put up to share so I expect to see some new content in the next few weeks.

So what’s the novel about? The story is a teenage girl who doesn’t feel like she belongs in her family, she feels she has something to prove and so she decides to become a witch. The moment she accomplishes this goal her life starts to spiral out of control due to her lack of control over her precocious magical powers and the discovery that there is a spirit war being fought between various magical factions and the witches are just one group. It will have plenty of action and as well as moral dilemmas to explore. I have to say. It’s not the story I would have guessed that I would have written but it was surprisingly a lot of fun to write.

In other news I have joined a local writer’s group and I’ve been challenged to write some non-fiction. Which I will publish here when I have some pieces sufficiently up to scratch to share. Also, now that I am just working on the editing phase of my manuscript I am putting more time back into creating my podcasts. I aim to start releasing them in about 2-3 months. So yes, lots of cool stuff in the pipelines. There was also a girl distracting me for some time these last few months, but I have removed her from my life. I have come to realise that my writing is more meaningful to me. So happily single for now because it gives me so much more time to work on my creative projects.
